My Grampy, Stephen Bartlett, was an army veteran who fought in the Pacific theater in World War II. In November of 2014, he visited DC with Honor Flight Maine. Since I live in DC, I was able to join him while he toured the monuments with his Honor Flight group. I could tell how much the experience meant to him. He passed away just over a year later. I greatly appreciate that Honor Flight made it possible for him to see his monuments before he died. This donation is in tribute to him and his service.Sam Norton, grandson
Bate, Arthur Harold
In honor of Arthur "Harry" Bate who served as a US Marine during WWII as a Flight Commander in China. Post war, he benefited many fallen troops by facilitating their return to home soil and cross country flights by inaugurating with American Airlines the connections and setup to make the transport accessible and honorable to the departed soldier. His attention to details in transport served to both benefit and bless the families of the fallen. This gift is in honor of him and in memory of how he served many who gave the ultimate price. Uncle Harry was my ’favorite uncle’, and with his love for and connection to airlines (decades as a VP with American Airlines), he helped facilitate in me a love for airplanes and flying. Uncle Harry taught us a lot through the years and gave my brothers and I our first ’ground school’ day in flying taking us ’aboard’ a Piper for ’instruction’. He welcomed us aboard many ’planes’ through the years with a special photo opp in a 707 cockpit.Casey and Joy Crockett - blessed family

Merry Christmas, G-pa! We know that your time in the Navy was special for you, so we wanted to donate to a military charity in your honor in lieu of a traditional gift. This particular charity is somewhat known in San Diego. We thought you’d appreciate what they do for your fellow vets. We love you so much!Andrew & Kiley

Chason, William Morris (Bill)
William Morris "Bill" Chason, MSgt U.S. Air Force, Retired, took great pride in his 20-year military career. He served in numerous locations in the United States and overseas, including a tour in the 553rd Reconnaissance Wing ("Batcats"), Korat RTAFB, Thailand, during the Vietnam War). His career also took him to Korea, Newfoundland, and Turkey. An oral history interview of Mr. Chason’s military service is archived at the Library of Congress Veterans History Project in Washington, DC. A longtime aviation enthusiast, Mr. Chason earned his pilot’s license while still in High School. He flew various types of aircraft with Air Force aero clubs, and owned several small planes after moving to Valdosta. Flying was not his only passion. He loved to collect and restore antique gasoline engines and farm equipment, as well as old clocks and pocket watches. He could rebuild just about anything.Grateful fans of his daughter Christy

My husband and I met Chris in 2010. He has been a significant presence in my life ever since. Knowing him has been truly life-changing for me in really great ways both personally and professionally. We spent the last 10 years building a business together, and it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life so far. During that time, he generously treated my husband and I to rides on his planes, giving us both memories we will always treasure. He helped me so many times and in so many ways…as a mentor, as a friend, as a role model, as a business partner, and most importantly, as a source of inspiration. He will be missed. Our condolences go out to the Grigoriou family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, and we hope you find peace and comfort as you embrace his memory.Maria & Jon Reid

WALTER MOTACEK WAS MY 2ND COUSIN. HE LIVE/FARMED NEAR SPENCER, NEBRASKA. IN JANUARY 1945---HE WAS DRAFTED INTO THE U.S. ARMY. BY THE SUMMER OF 1945 HE WAS ON A SHIP HEADING FOR OKINAWA TO FORM UP WITH THE PLANNED ASSAULT ARMIES THAT WERE GOING TO ATTACK MAINLAND JAPAN. BUT---IN AUGUST---THE ATOMIC BOMBS WERE DROPPED ON MAINLAND JAPAN AND THE JAPANESE THEN SURRENDERED. WALT AND MANY OTHER INFANTRY MEN WOULD PROBABLY HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THE MAINLAND ASSAULT OF JAPAN. HE AND OTHERS WERE VERY, VERY LUCKY THAT THE WAR WAS OVER. WALT STILL HAD ABOUT A 1 1/4 YEAR REMAINING ON HIS 2 YEAR TOUR OF DUTY. HE THEN WAS SELECTED/BECAME PART OF THE HONOR GUARD PROTECTING GENERAL DOUGLAS MACARTHUR, THE GOVENOR-GENERAL OF JAPAN. WALT’S REGULAR DUTIES INCLUDED STANDING GUARD/CHECKING VISITORS INTO MACARTHUR’S OFFICE THAT WAS LOCATED IN TOKYO. WHILE IN JAPAN WALT COLLECTED ABOUT 120 PICTURES (MOST FROM OTHER SOLDIERS WITH BETTER CAMERAS) OF SCENES PHOTO GRAFTED IN POST WARTIME.NEPHEW---DONALD MOTACEK

We all are honoring George Neckermann, Seaman, Veteran of the U.S. Navy, (Michael Neckermann’s father, and Stanley Neckermann), who proudly served in World War II, and survived. George is 95 + 2 months and is alive, but very ill now. He had the privilege to take that Honor Flight years ago and was grateful to be there in Washington D.C. for this honorable event. He spent a day amongst our greatest heroes of that war, remembering and mourning the events that took place. They were recognized and honored that entire day wherever they went. What a tribute America has created for our military servicemen and women! Our family appreciates this veteran program and offer this donation. We all gathered at St. Louis Lambert Airport to welcome George and his companions back from D.C. with cheers, clapping, balloons, hugs, and tears! What a beautiful experience for our military heroes. This donation is in honor of my dad, who was in the infantry during WWII and battled in Northern Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He passed two years ago at age 95. He had the honor of being taken on a Badger Honor Flight a few years before he passed. It was one of the best days of his life. He finally got the respect that he deserved for the hardships he endured more than 70 years before. He finally started talking about some of his experiences in the war, which was very cathartic for him in his last few years of life. Thank you to all of the Honor Flight organizers and volunteers for what you do for our vets. You change their lives for the better. At every stop my dad experienced while in Washington D.C. his world got a little brighter. The parade he was fortunate enough to experience at the Madison airport lit him up for the rest of his days. The work you do is honorable and so important.Tom

Vincent L Triggs served his country proudly in WWII. He served in the 75th division of the US Army in company L. From December 16th to January 26th he fought in the front lines of the Battle of the Bulge. He was taken to a medical facility, in London, after freezing his hands and feet. Many of his close friends weren’t lucky enough to survive. Vince was awarded the Bronze Star. He served out the balance of his time in England, with Air Corps transportation division. We recently recognized the 75th year since the Battle of the Bulge. We enjoyed hearing some of his stories of the poor conditions they endured. A few year back Dad was able to take an Honor Flight to DC. He and His wife Eileen were so appreciative for the opportunity to be able to go. We are making a donation to The Honor Flight Network so it will help some other Military Veteran be able to experience the same trip.Scott and Michelle

Thank you for your service. You survived the Death March of the Philippine Islands during WWII only to die in Cabanatuan POW camp only 35 miles from where my mother (your wife), my brother (Clay) and I (Beth) were imprisoned by the Japanese at Santo Tomas University. Clay and I visited your grave on the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Manila where you were on business. You signed up that day to join the US Army and we never saw you again. I love and forgive you for that sacrifice.Beth O’Gorman

In recognition of my Vietnam Veteran father who served 26+ years in the Air Force. We are proud of your dedicated service to our country. I’ve had the honor of being present when an Honor Flight landed in Washington, D.C., an experience I’ll never forget. Since that time, I’ve promised myself if my father had the opportunity to participate, I’d find a way to make it happen. Until then, please accept this donation in his honor.Your Proud Family
Mr. Wilson, even though we’ve never met I know what a great man you are to have raised wonderful women like Pam as a daughter and Jamie as a granddaughter. Thank you for being such a blessing for them and for your service to our great country. You risked your life so the rest of us could sleep at night, and we are grateful. Rest in Peace.Stephen and Staci DeSchryver
