Veterans and their guardians are in the air for the fourth Greater Peoria Honor Flight of the year, and the 41st flight for the organization.

The flight took off around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday to take dozens of veterans and their guardians to Washington, D.C. for an unforgettable day visiting monuments and memorials before they return home to a hero’s welcome at the Peoria International Airport.

Honor Flight trips are free for veterans, funded by donations and community support. Every dollar helps cover travel, meals and the logistics it takes to get veterans safely to Washington and back home.

Head to the Peoria Airport Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. to welcome our veterans home.
