WEXFORD, Pa. —

Veterans from across the Pittsburgh region, having served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, were given a roaring welcome home after 80 of them arrived from a trip to D.C. put on by Honor Flight Pittsburgh Saturday night.

The organization, founded in 2016, brings groups of veterans in the region to the nation’s capital to tour the memorials built in their honor. In its 10 years of existence, the group has taken over 750 veterans on the trip, according to Honor Flight Pittsburgh’s website.

Veterans were shocked at the celebration when they arrived back home to Northway Christian Church in Wexford, with Vietnam veteran Gerald “Jerry” Deible telling Pittsburgh’s Action News 4, “I’ve never seen anything like this.”
